Mike was a little confused and lead us to Huckleberry Park along Skyline Blvd. We (Jon O, Whit, Claire, Mike and Vi) decided to take a short hike since Claire was under the weather and we seemed hungry before even hitting the trail. We decided an hour jaunt would suffice.
The Huckleberry trail is super green, with tons of ferns, bay trees, a smattering of huckleberry trees. The trail was moist but since it was on a hill side there was not any standing water, so the night of rain did not dampen our trip. We were able to see Mt. Diablo from a few spots. We finished our little loop with a healthy uphill stretch that got us back to the car with a little sweat under our collars.
We made a stop at the grocery store on the way home. There we started grilling on the new gas power BBQ. Some meatless sausages, salmon, asparague, peppers and zuchini were cooked and eaten. To complement the meal we had some tasty homemade spinach dip and oatmeal cookies.
Our first jaunt was a success. I felt like a nap was in order...until Ryan, Kirchner and Steve showed up at 3:30....
Hope you all can come out next time...Mt. Tamm? Early December?
Freddy B...this whole trip was initiated for you. Where you at?

The highlight for me was the ginormous boogery-yellow banana slug we saw - gross!
